Early History
Dubai Ports International (DPI) was founded in 1999, launching its first project at the South Container Terminal in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in partnership with local stakeholders. DPI rapidly expanded operations, establishing a presence in Djibouti (2000), Visakhapatnam, India (2002), and Constanța, Romania (2003).
In January 2005, DPI acquired CSX World Terminals, significantly expanding its global footprint. Later that year, DPI merged with Dubai Ports Authority, forming DP World.
